A third-person survival horror game, developer Striking Distance Studios was founded by Dead Space creator Glen Schofield.

The Callisto Protocol is scheduled to launch sometime this year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The Callisto Protocol gameplay has finally been revealed alongside a release date set for December 2, 2022. While the game won't take place within the PUBG universe anymore, it's possible that there could be PUBG easter eggs, as Schofield says that there will still be some surprises for fans. To fight off these monsters, Jacob is only equipped with a baton, pistol, shotgun, and a device called a GRP that can move items and enemies around. The Callisto Protocol follows protagonist Jacob Lee as he tries to escape a prison facility on Jupiter's Callisto moon that's filled with monsters called Biophages. Now, he clarifies that there simply aren't any. Earlier this week, Schofield stated that The Callisto Protocol was so far into the future in 2320 that any connections didn't even really matter. However, it was unclear what kind of ties the two games would have. The survival horror game was originally announced in December 2020 and was going to take place within the same universe as PUBG several centuries into the future.
